Irakli Beridze from UNICRI will talk about Artificial Intelligence and Robotics

One of the experts who will participate in the conferences of international level in the next edition of Global Robot Expo is Irakli Beridze. He is the head of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics of United Nations (UNICRI).

The professional career of Irakli Beridze with AI and robotics

Irakli Beridze has more than 18 years of experience in leading multilateral negotiations, developing stakeholder engagement programmes and channels of communication with governments, UN agencies, international organisations, think tanks, civil societies, foundations, academia, private industries and other partners on an international level.

Heading the UNICRI Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics with the objective to enhance understanding of the risk-benefit duality of AI through improved coordination, knowledge collection and dissemination, awareness-raising and global outreach activities.UNICRI uses the knowledge and information of experts in the field to educate and inform interested parties, and in particular policy-makers. UNICRI also believes that it is possible to advance the debate on robotics and the governance of artificial intelligence.

He is the head of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics of  United Nations

Thanks to  the support of the Government of the Netherlands and the City of The Hague, UNICRI is establishing the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in The Hague, The Netherlands, to serve as an international resource in matters related to AI and robotics.

Since 2014, Irakli Beridze started and managed the first United Nations Program on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Initiating and organizing a number of high-level events at the United Nations General Assembly, and other international organizations. Finding synergies with traditional threats and risks as well as identifying solutions that AI can contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Beridze is responsible for initiating and organizing the UN training, educational and mentoring programmes worldwide on AI and Robotics for a wide range of stakeholders.

Rapid advancements in the field of robotics coupled with the rise of computing power during the latter half of the twentieth century has exponentially increased the breath of tasks that can be assigned to robots and systems based on an artificial intelligence.

Irakli Beridze is a member of various of international task forces and working groups advising governments and international organisations on numerous issues related to international security, emerging technologies and global political trends. Beridze initiated the establishment, and coordinates the work of the United Nations Group of Friends of CBRN Risk Mitigation and Security Governance, as a forum for consultation and dialogue among permanent missions of the UN in New York.
Prior to joining UNICRI, Beridze served as a special projects officer at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) undertaking extensive missions in politically sensitive areas around the globe.
It is remarkable that Beridze was the recipient of recognition on the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the OPCW in 2013.
